What it means for your application

Changes as City of York Council announce they will be leaving  North Yorkshire Home Choice  in early 2022 to set up their own York-only housing register.

City of York Council will be leaving the North Yorkshire Home Choice Partnership in early 2022  to operate their own, York-Only,  social housing register  using a new  system called ‘Open Housing’
Their new application system will be governed by a new City of York social housing allocations policy

This means if you are looking for social housing in the York local authority area you will be required to make a new housing application, through the City of York "Open Housing" system
Registrations for housing in York will open early next year and City of York Council will communicate the date nearer the time

If you already have an active  housing application with North Yorkshire Home Choice and have a local connection to any of the local authority areas below your housing application will continue to be active but your application must be held by one of the remaining partner organsisations and you may be required to verify your local connection to the remaining local authority areas during the process or at any point of offer or verification.
