Parkins Garth, 7 – 15 Parkins Garth, Askrigg IS subject to a legal local connection agreement and properties must be let to people who qualify as “local” using the following criteria:- i) the head of household or partner must be employed or will be employed in an already established business within the local area. ii) household in shared accommodation which is overcrowded, or in unsatisfactory housing by Environmental Health standards and is within the local area. iii) Elderly or disabled persons requiring smaller accommodation who already live permanently within the local area. iv) such other persons in addition to those groups listed above, as authorised by North Yorkshire County Council. For the purpose of Askrigg the schedule to the agreement has also been amended to define, in order of priority, the following local areas of existing residence, or employment, for the purpose of establishing a local need for housing:- a) the parishes of Askrigg, Low Abbotside and Bainbridge; b) the rest of the parishes of Wensleydale and its tributary dales, wholly or partially, within the National Park; c) the rest of the parishes, wholly or partially, with the National Park. A minimum payment of 1 weeks rent is required prior to the start of the tenancy..
